  1. You know, Richard, I just can’t get enough of Playing for Change. An album would not do them justice—it needs to be a DVD all the way!

      Charlie:

Playing for Change is releasing a DVD and CD sometime this month. It’s possible to pre-order by going to their web site:

I have to agree with you. The first time I saw Stand By Me I was completely blown away. The editing of both the videos and the music were just superb. It literally brought tears to my eyes and they all do that to me even though I’ve watched each of them dozens of times. I can’t wait for the DVD to arrive in my mailbox since as soon as I found out about the pre-ordering I did it immediately.

Also, I think the One Love video extraordinary. I believe Bob Marley was a prophet as much as any in the Bible. Listen to Redemption Song and say it isn’t so. There’s no doubt that Marley was stoned to the max when he came up with One Love, but if ganja makes you think like that then everyone should be stoned as often as possible. “Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right…” “As it was in the beginning, so shall it be in the end…” the Doxology. “Let’s get together to fight this Holy Armegedeon, when the Man comes there will be no no doom…have pity on those whose chances grow thinner, there ain’t no hiding place from the Father of Creation.” That’s Church without being there.

And the Playing for Change videos have the hand of the Lord about them, too. They are as powerful as anything I’ve ever seen. I’m glad I was able to introduce them to you.
