Quotes

In today’s “Freshly Pressed” I clicked on to Amanda Rudd’s Blog post where people have inked their favorite literary quotations permanently into their skin.  From there I went to http://tattoolit.com/ and got hung up on the page after page of photos of people’s tattoos. I’m not a big fan of tattoos in general, but I’ve found some of these rather interesting.

One that I particularly like is”

Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared. –The Buddah

  1. What a fascinating entry. I’m not fond of tattoos myself, although I have “Yakuza Moon” on my to-be-read list and find the Japanese gang tattoos amazing.

The thought of a tattooed quotation seems impractical – I mean, I’d be wanting to change every two weeks. That’s interesting to ponder in itself. If you got a quotation tattoo, would it lock you into a mindset? Don’t know.

There are some quotations I liked, and I found one of my friend’s favorite quotations among them. I’ve sent her a pic – can’t wait to see her response!

Years ago when I was heavily into repair and restoration of boats I thought if I ever got a tattoo it would say “Born To Bondo!”

When I was out working on the drilling rigs lots of the guys, probably the majority, were tattooed. Many had a girl’s name somewhere. Curiosity finally got the better of me and I started asking them “Whatever happened to Joyce?” “When was the last time you saw Mary?” etc. With only a single exception the hundred or so who I put the question to had no idea where the girls were. The one said “We’re married and have four kids.”
